The master class will cover the essential elements of successful positioning of a request for funding and the process by which the application to a programme or the narrative for an unsolicited request is developed. Against the backdrop of GYA’s fundraising initiatives, the workshop aims at enhancing the capacity of Working Groups and individual members to attract funding for their GYA projects, a skill that can also be applied to one’s own scientific projects. The elements of the masterclass will cover developing the narrative or case for support, the cultivation and stewardship of donor suspects and prospects, and the rigour and discipline required to facilitate a successful application or campaign. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and personal experiences to the masterclass for discussion and illustration of projects in which they have experienced success and failure in fundraising.
