A valued part of the Annual General Meeting and Conference programme is to hear from GYA members around the world about their field of expertise. Lightning Talks showcase the diverse research interests within the GYA membership, making space for individuals to communicate to each other about their research and work.
We encourage all interested GYA Members and Alumni to submit an abstract and give a Lightning Talk!
Lightning Talks will be held on 7 June 2023.
Preparing a Lightning Talk
Lightning Talks should be around 3 minutes long (the exact length will be determined based on the number of entries, and communicated to you as early as possible). Your short presentation should clearly communicate your research outputs to a broad, interdisciplinary, cross-cultural audience. Your fellow GYA members want to better understand what you study and why. You can use slide(s) to illustrate your talk if you wish.
Communicating research effectively within a limited time is a critical skill that young scientists and scholars of today need to master, and doing this in approximately 3 minutes is both challenging and rewarding!
In preparation for your Lightning Talk, we recommend that you read through these helpful tips from GYA members who took part in a workshop by speaking coach Lisa Shufro.
Abstract Submission
Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and can be uploaded directly via this submission form. Following a review process by the Programme Organising Committee, we will provide further specific instructions for presenters.
Deadline: The deadline for abstract submission is 31 March 2023.
