Director of The Re:Enlightenment Project
Clifford Siskin is the Henry W. and Alfred A. Berg Professor of English at New York University and the Director of The Re:Enlightenment Project. In This Is Enlightenment (U of Chicago Press 2010), co-edited with William Warner, he provided a new answer to Kant’s famous question, resituating the debate over Enlightenment in the history of mediation. As evident in his most recent book, SYSTEM The Shaping of Modern Knowledge (MIT Press, 2016), his overall subject is the history of knowledge, particularly the interrelations of formal and technological change. Professor Siskin is also co-editor, with Anne Mellor, of the Palgrave-Macmillan monograph series in "Enlightenment, Romanticism and the Cultures of Print." He has been the George Delacorte Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University, the A. C. Bradley Chair at the University of Glasgow, the Waynflete Lecturer at Magdalen College, Oxford, and Visitng Leverhulme Professor at Cambridge University.
