Progress

In a two-month-long horizon scanning exercise led by the project “Invisible Worlds”, over 60 abstracts from diverse disciplines were collected from GYA and NYA members from around the world. Clusters worked out individually by the members of the WG “Invisible Worlds” were the basis for a collective clustering exercise at a GYA-JRC workshop in Brussels in May 2015. During the workshop, the 10 participants from the JRC, the GYA and an NYA identified and prioritized a set of five 'Invisible Worlds' ('Invisible data trail', 'Invisible (safety) risks', 'Invisible money-making and its impacts', 'Invisible inequalities', and 'Invisible governance) and their impacts as well as their challenges and opportunities. Both sides agreed that the workshop proved to be an excellent forum for a working-level discussion between the JRC and the GYA. The next step will be to produce five pamphlet-format reports covering each of the five selected 'Invisible Worlds'.

Outcomes

GYA-JRC Workshop on “Invisible Worlds”,8 May 2015, Brussels, Belgium. The participants discussed 60 submissions resulting from call for examples of "Invisible Worlds" that ended in March 2015. In a JRC-moderated process the proposals were clustered and prioritized with regard to relevance to society and need to act. Final output: five pamphlet-format reports covering each of the five selected 'Invisible Worlds'.
